Digital Solutions Developer – UK

Location: Birmingham

Hours: 40 hours

Salary: £25,000 - £50,000 p/a

People are our biggest asset. We can provide you with the skills and opportunity to develop and reach your full potential – what’s most important is that you’re a good fit and willing to learn. We know that there is no such thing as the perfect applicant with the complete set of skills. We believe in a challenger mindset at 5874 and if you feel that you could challenge and develop into this role, then we want to hear from you.

What we’re looking for from you:

A creative problem-solver who doesn’t need a can-do attitude because you are already doing it. There has never been a box to ‘think out of’ because boxes get in the way unless they’re useful to solve the problem – like climbing on them.

You’re inherently inquisitive and like taking things apart to find out how they work and make things better. Things that don’t work well intrinsically bother you, compelling you to seek out and discover the best solutions for everything you come across. Kaizen or continual improvement is a natural existence for you.

You are triggered by hearing ‘can’t be done’. It’s a challenge to prove that it can – with enough imagination, persistence, and effort. If it’s not a challenge, it’s not that interesting. To you, ‘solutionising’ is most definitely a real word.

You’re comfortable with discomfort because it normally means you must be onto something worthwhile, happily wading into the realms of the unknown. After all, that’s where answers are found. You can’t remember the last time you paid a visit to your comfort zone when swashbuckling for ideas is much more satisfying.

You already have your own ‘projects’ solving those things you’ve identified to improve everyday existence.

You enjoy throwing around ideas and creating possibilities, happily putting them up to the test of whether they will work or not. Just as much fun as exploring solutions, it is equally enjoyable working out how to punch holes in them. Good ideas not only have to fly, but they also have to stay up there no matter what gets thrown at them.

Your Role

Solution Developers are creative problem solvers whose expertise allows them to guide complex projects across the entire project experience. As part of the Solutions team, you are heavily involved in working with our eCommerce clients to elicit and define their requirements, understand project needs and then develop and explain the solutions both conceptually and technically to both the client and our production teams.

You’re responsible for consulting with all parties, providing clarity on the project plan and roadmap and guiding its technical implementation. You ensure this implementation meets the requirements and goals to a high standard.

You identify and take on the challenges from project requirements, individually and collaboratively, discover the best ways to resolve and, when necessary, develop a proof-of-concept to inform the development teams and client of its feasibility. ‘Pocking’ will most definitely be a real word in your vocabulary.
