Back to BlogDigital Spring Clean
Spring is finally here! Longer, warmer days are ahead of us and there’s something about that that makes us want to start fresh. It’s time for a digital spring clean.
If you want a successful business, you have to get organised. A clean digital footprint will make sure you’re ready to take on a new season, and leave your brain and inbox less cluttered. Here are our tips for some small changes you can make to ensure you’re ready to take on a new season.
Be Brutal With Your Inbox
Clear up some space and delete any unwanted emails, this includes emptying your junk and drafts folders. Empty your trash and get rid of all those out-of-office replies. Go through and unsubscribe from any newsletters or lists that you know are no longer relevant or just clog up your inbox. Start spring with a clean inbox that makes it a lot easier to do business.
Check Your Email Signature and Branding Is All up to Date
You would be surprised how many businesses go through a rebrand or change of address and forget to update their email signature. It’s a vital piece of information that every person you contact will see, so make sure it’s relevant. Similarly with your branding, make sure this is the same across all sales channels, social media and marketing materials. Cohesive branding is key to ensuring you are seen as a reputable company.
Turn Off Email Notifications
We’re constantly signing up to new platforms and apps, which means our inboxes can get bombarded with useless notifications from places like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn – turn these off or create a separate email address just for notifications so that your primary inbox isn’t flooded by them. This will make sure your inbox is a lot cleaner and easier to navigate.
Free Up Some Space
This includes on your smartphones, tablets and computers – how often do you use all of the apps you have downloaded? Make sure you clear out everything you don’t use or no longer need, or back up your files to an external hard drive. This includes backing up your critical data and any important files. Don’t keep everything stored in one place, and be sure to make full use of the Cloud, particularly for any photos and videos you have stored.
Everything Has an Update
We know it can be easier to push aside those updates and tell yourself that “you’ll do it later”, but the reality is, you always forget. Before we enter a new season, make sure you update EVERYTHING – this will not only make your devices and apps run a lot smoother and your information more secure, but will also clear that irritating space in the back of your head where those ‘install later’ clicks go.
Of course, the above are just a few small ways you can ensure you enter spring with a clearer mind and digital space, however the key to staying organised is by making sure you regularly check over your digital footprint.
