Back to BlogWhat’s The Deal With Social Commerce?
If you’re an ecommerce business and haven’t heard of social commerce, you’re massively missing out on a big sales opportunity. Social commerce works by selling products directly through social media networks. Not to be confused with a marketing technique by posting a link to your online store, instead, you offer your customers the ability to purchase directly within the social network they are browsing.
Let’s face it, in general, we’re becoming lazy when it comes to shopping online. We want everything to be available everywhere and at our fingertips in an instant, which is why shopping via our social media channels is becoming more popular with businesses and consumers.
Facebook is the star of the show when it comes to selling online. With over 2 billion monthly active users, they’re a big player online, which is why it’s no surprise that they were also one of the first to launch into social selling. Summer 2018 saw the launch of the Facebook Marketplace to compete with the likes of Amazon and eBay and has quickly become a huge success.
Instagram is the home of the influencer, which is also why it has become a great way for businesses to advertise and sell their products through the platform, in a way that is very different to traditional marketing techniques. Shoppable posts are the latest aspect to go live on Instagram, meaning brands can tag items in organic posts which can be tapped on and then purchased on a new page.
Similar to Instagram in terms of a focus on visual content, Pinterest have also included a shopping option with buyable pins and their own shopping cart to be able to purchase from different pins/suppliers in one go.
Why Choose Social Commerce?
Should you go for it? Well, considering mobile dominates when it comes to consumers shopping online, we can only see this aspect getting bigger. Being able to shop for everything you want and need via one channel will certainly make things easier for the consumer but will also make sure brands are seen. Social media is a huge part of our lives, so why not take advantage of it by making your products even more accessible. Contact us to discover more on this topic.
