You’ve Launched Your New Website, Now What?

Launching a new website is not only a big investment in terms of cash, but it can also be quite time-consuming and therefore isn’t something brands decide to do very often. The whole process can be quite overwhelming, which can lead to brands falling short after launch and not making the most of what is essentially a fantastic marketing opportunity for your business/brand. There are a bunch of technical aspects your web developers should do once launching your site, including turning your site on for search engines and ensuring your SEO plugins are populated with metadata and keywords, amongst other things, but once these bits are done, it’s down to you on how you promote your new site. To help you with your strategy, we’ve put together a few tips on what you can do post-launch.

Social Media

Using your social media platforms to promote your new site should be a given, but make sure you are creative with your content. Produce a launch video or create GIFs to grab the consumer’s attention. Your goal is to keep the interest of your current customers, while also hoping to extend your reach. If you want to go even further, we recommend setting up retargeting campaigns based on those who have visited your new site, so you can then follow them around and keep them interested. This will hopefully even lead to more conversions.

Update Your Details

Do you know exactly where your website is listed? If you’ve changed your URL or branding during the web development process, make sure you change the details and all creative wherever your brand is listed. If you haven’t done so already, make sure you set up Google My Business so that you appear on the maps section of Google.

Blog

Does your new site have a blog? It should do, and producing regular content for it will not only boost your organic SEO but will also keep your customers interested. Start with a blog around the launch, focus on why you decided to change things up and what you see in the future of your brand.  You should also ensure you check over any content transferred from the previous site and that it is populated in all the right places.

Email Campaign

An email campaign is a great way to let your subscribers know about the new site. In general, emails are one of the best ways to stay in touch with your customers and ensure they don’t forget about you and the services/products you provide.

Review and Maintain

The web is constantly changing, which is why the launch of a new website is never truly the end of its development. It will need to be kept up to date, and you will need to meet regularly to discuss new trends and improvements and review the site performance and analytics. This is where working with a digital agency on a retained basis can be beneficial. You should also look to get customer feedback where possible, preferably via survey forms, so that you continue to provide the best possible user experience.
