Monwell is a leading provider of custom ecommerce solutions for publishers and brands, specialising in creating tailored online stores that enhance customer experience and drive sales. The Challenge

Monwell faced significant challenges with their existing Magento 2 setup, which had become increasingly unstable and difficult to manage. The system struggled to meet their operational needs, particularly with handling their large and complex product catalog across multiple storefronts. Frequent technical issues made it hard to scale the business and introduced inefficiencies that impacted their workflow and customer experience.

In addition to scalability, Monwell required a solution that offered greater flexibility and control over the front end. They needed a platform that would allow them to easily customise and build out pages without relying heavily on development resources. With ambitious growth plans, Monwell also faced a strict timeline: launching four brand-new, fully customised stores within just four months of completing the discovery process.


The search for a more stable, scalable, and flexible platform ultimately led them to BigCommerce. However, replicating the custom setup from Magento 2 while improving performance and maintaining the high level of personalisation Monwell required posed a unique technical challenge.

The Solution

This was a large scale project as it required 4 brand new stores, all with full customisation and front-end freedom when it comes to editing and building out pages. There was also a strict time frame that meant the sites needed to go live within 4 months of the discovery process ending.

During development, there was an issue of trying to replicate a very custom set up that Monwell were using on Magento 2. By using some clever custom widgets alongside the 5874 Commerce Searchspring implementation, the team managed to not only replicate but improve the ability to customise the displays on the front-end.


Now working alongside a brand new tech partner, Feedonomics, Monwell have been able to transform their product management process. With this new technology, they can publish 250k SKUs to each of their five stores, tailoring the SKU set to match the specific needs of each storefront by leveraging the tech with the BigCommerce listing tool. They’re also able to enrich this data with product descriptions for their extensive range of books and leverage pagebuilder to customise each store’s design according to their unique requirements. Ultimately, Monwell are able to handle vast amounts of data effortlessly, ensuring a smoother operational workflow.
