The Challenge
Businesses are continuously faced with the challenge of optimising their operations to stay competitive and Movora is no exception. It embarked on a significant digital transformation journey to address its fragmented and inefficient systems with the transformation not just being about building a new website; it was about creating a scalable and integrated digital ecosystem that would streamline operations and support their ambitious growth strategy.
Initially, Movora’s ecommerce infrastructure was a patchwork of disparate systems, including multiple BigCommerce websites and a cumbersome B2B platform called Cloudify. These systems were not integrated, leading to inefficiencies and frustration among the business’ staff and clients. Recognising the need for a cohesive solution, Movora engaged with 5874 Commerce, to work alongside them and guide them through this complex process. The primary challenge was to create a unified digital experience and seamlessly integrate their various platforms.
Movora’s existing setup included three different ERPs—Business Central in the EU, Fishbowl in the US, and QuickBooks in Canada—further complicating their operations. The fragmented nature of their digital infrastructure hindered scalability and made it difficult to maintain accurate and consistent product information.

Our Solution
The transformation began with an extensive consultancy phase, where 5874 Commerce identified the need for a robust B2B solution and a centralised product information management (PIM) system. The solution involved integrating these disparate systems using Jitterbit, a powerful integration platform, and implementing Akeneo for centralised product data management.
One of the critical challenges was managing the transition without disrupting ongoing operations. To address this, 5874 Commerce proposed a phased approach, with the first phase focused on integrating Akeneo and Jitterbit:
Integration of Existing Systems: The integration of the current stack into Microsoft Business Central for Canada and the US was prioritised. This allowed Movora to maintain their existing operations while laying the groundwork for the new digital ecosystem.
Centralised Product Data Management: The implementation of Akeneo provided a single source of truth for product information. This significantly improved product data accuracy and workflow efficiency.
Scalable Integration: Using Jitterbit and Akeneo allowed Movora to scale quickly, adapting to new acquisitions and market expansions. This flexibility was crucial for a company with an ambitious growth strategy.
Project Results
For the first time, Movora can provide real-time product availability, enhancing their customer experience and operational efficiency. Veterinary clinics could quickly access and order the necessary implants, knowing exactly when they would be delivered.
Improved Operational Efficiency: The centralised PIM and integrated ERP systems streamlined operations, reducing redundancies and manual errors.
Enhanced Customer Experience: Real-time product availability and a seamless ordering process significantly improved customer satisfaction.
Scalability: The integrated digital ecosystem allowed Movora to easily incorporate new acquisitions and expand into new markets.
Looking ahead, the transformation is set to continue with a headless B2B platform and the integration of a global PLC CRM, HubSpot, via Jitterbit. This will streamline customer relationship management across the organisation, providing a unified view of customer interactions.
Movora’s digital transformation project illustrates the power of strategic planning and execution in ecommerce. By addressing their fragmented systems and creating a scalable, integrated digital ecosystem, Movora is not only improving operational efficiency but also setting the stage for continued growth and innovation. This journey highlights the importance of having a clear vision and the right partners when in the pursuit of real commerce success.
