The Women's Domain Community

The Women’s Domain is a community and movement founded by 5874 Commerce. What started on International Women’s Day 2022 as a campaign to understand and amplify women’s experiences in the eCommerce world has grown into something much bigger: a space for connection, support, growth, and real change.

The Women's Domain Community
Why We Started

We wanted more than just the typical observance of IWD. The 5874 marketing team (made up entirely of women at the time) asked questions like:

  • What is the real representation of women in eCommerce?
  • How many women are in leadership vs entry roles, especially in tech or commercial functions?
  • What are the barriers — motherhood, imposter syndrome, women’s health, work culture, etc?

We saw that talking about these issues matters, not just for women, but for the entire industry. Because inclusive workplaces, open conversations, and equitable opportunities make for stronger, more innovative organisations.

Over time, The Women’s Domain has grown into a multi-faceted initiative. Here are some of the ways we work:

  • Podcasts, articles, whitepapers & research into topics like women’s health, imposter syndrome, gender representation, leadership, etc.
  • In-person and virtual events: roundtables, masterclasses, panel discussions, networking socials.
  • An Accelerator programme for female-driven eCommerce brands (such as brands with women founders) to scale, get coaching, build connections, and learn from peers.
  • Whitepapers released annually or periodically to share learnings & guidance for businesses on creating more inclusive cultures.

What We Believe

Inclusion is for everyone. Though we focus on women’s experiences, we welcome all genders, roles and backgrounds. Allies are essential.

Change comes through practical action. Research is good, but tools, mentorship, accountability, and connection drive real change.

Sharing stories matters. Voices that are often overlooked - about challenges, failures, wins - help everyone learn and grow.

Representation isn’t optional. When people see themselves in roles, in leadership, in tech, in conversations, it shifts what’s possible.

We’re in our third year now. Here’s what we hope to build/build toward:

  • More women-driven eCommerce brands supported via the Accelerator, growing their reach and impact.
  • More regular events (both physical & virtual) so people can meet, share, learn, and feel part of a network.
  • Resources & tools that help companies, teams & leaders become more inclusive - not just in statements, but in culture, hiring, support for working parents, flexible working, etc.

We need you
